ABOUT US

Our Team

Lorè & Lara

Being proudly South African women, who grew up travelling through Africa, we have a long-awoken passion in us to make a difference in the continent that gave our lives meaning. Now, we finally have the chance to start something, something that will move people. Because that is what we strive to do – to move people. It’s a big challenge. And one that we are willing to accept. You see, sustainability goes far and wide, and much deeper than we perceive it to be. It is not a marketing gimmick. Sustainability and transparency goes hand in hand and cannot be separated from each other. At HempLove, we see sustainability as a lifestyle, that requires constant effort and improvement. From the food you eat, the clothes you wear, the skincare products you use to the décor used in your home. It lies in every choice you make.

Social Responsibility

It is our responsibility to educate and create awareness about industrial hemp and its uses on local, national and international platforms. We have formed collaborations with companies such as Invegrow, the first licensed company in Malawi to cultivate industrial hemp. During this collaboration we educated local women how to weave handbags made from hemp twine and how they can create an income for themselves with these newly learnt skills.

We aim to form many more collaborations with likeminded entities to give back to communities and to improve quality of lives of women and children in Africa in a honest, humble and respectful way. review.

Fair Trade

We are deeply committed to ensuring fair trade practices in every step of our production process. We source our hemp fabric from trusted vetted suppliers in India.

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our dyeing process, where we prioritize natural dyes whenever possible as well as using natural trims such as shells to further minimize our ecological footprint and enhance the quality of our clothes.

Transparency is at the heart of our operations, ensuring that every piece of Hemp Love clothing is made with integrity, respect, and care for both people and the planet.

Hemp Fibre

Our fabric consists of blends of predominantly hemp, with smaller amounts of cotton or silk for softening purposes. Our goal is to replace these blends and to manufacture our garments out of pure hemp in the near future, since these two plants have the smallest ecological footprint in terms of the required hectares of land, impact on the soil, water demands and pesticide requirements. These are factors that are often over looked or covered up in the cotton industry.
