HempLove was born from a love for Africa and it’s people. Hemp cultivation brings many job opportunities to women throughout Africa and we hope to be actively involved in these communities.

At HempLove, we believe that sustainability is not a destination, but a on going process of improvement and innovation. We have a clear vision and set goals that we strive to achieve by 2021 and we would like to share these goals with our customers to encourage them to trust us and to join the movement to bring about change and awareness in the name of fashion.

Transparent Supply Chain

We believe that transparency is the key to our company’s success and we have gained our clients trust by doing so. Since Africa is starting to come on board with cannabis legalization and licenses being awarded for the cultivation of industrial hemp in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi and various other countries in Southern Africa, we hope to be sourcing our raw fibers from no other place than Africa in the near future. By doing this we have complete traceability of the fibers to pin point the exact origin of the fibers.

Sustainable Fibers

Our fabric consists of blends of predominantly hemp, with smaller amounts of cotton or silk for softening purposes. Our goal is to replace these blends and to manufacture our garments out of pure hemp and hemp and bamboo blends in the near future, since these two plants have the smallest ecological footprint in terms of the required hectares of land, the impact on the soil, water demands and pesticide requirements. These are factors that are often over looked or covered up in the cotton industry.

Plastic Free Packaging

At HempLove we make a point of ensuring that all our packaging is recycled, sustainable and plastic free. It is very important to us that sustainability goes beyond just our garments. We use organic recycled carrier bags and boxes, hand stamped with our logo to give our personal touch to every garment purchased from HempLove.

Dyes & Printing

Hemp Love is in collaboration with Green Engineering Solutions to develop natural dyes made from natural plant pigments to replace the synthetic dyes that are being used today. This is a project we are very excited about and that we are confident to succeed in.

Active Social Awareness

It is our responsibility to educate and create awareness about industrial hemp and its uses on local, national and international platforms. We have formed collaborations with companies such as Invegrow, the first licensed company in Malawi to cultivate industrial hemp. During this collaboration we educated local women how to weave handbags made from hemp twine and how they can create an income for themselves with these newly learnt skills.

We aim to form many more collaborations with likeminded entities to give back to communities and to improve quality of lives of women and children in Africa in a honest, humble and respectful way.

Trims & Harberdashery

We truly aim to have all our buttons and trims made from organic matter such as wood, shells and bamboo to continue to ensure we carry sustainability through every detail of our garments.

We are always on the hunt for sustainable and innovative companies who focus on the supply of recycled or natural based trims and buttons to ensure we deliver a high quality, sustainable product.
